I didn’t think a system could beat my M17X, since in my head my Alienware is ranked more important the Dali Lama and Obama’s love child. But if there is ANYTHING in the world that can outrank it, it’s another Alienware system!! Today, because im feeling generous, (dont get used to it) where going to review 2 Alienware systems for you. The M18X gaming laptop and the all new X51 ‘mini’ Desktop. But laptop first!
So, as you might have guessed the M18X is similar to my only child, the M17X only an inch larger in screen size, and a lot more bulky in weight. Weighing in at 12.8lbs and a battery life of only about 2 hours (if that) this bad boy is hardly made for mobility. To me that kind of kills the point of a laptop but read on, it makes up for it!! This mammoth packs a giant-sized punch, with Intel Core i7 3940XM, up to 4.2Mhz overclocked, 16GB DDr3 Ram, Duel 2GB GDDR5 nVidia GeForce GTX 680M memory cards running in SLI, Tripple hard drive options totaling 1.5TB, Killer Wireless-n 1103 a/g/n 3×3 MIMI Wireless card optimized for Video playback, bluetooth streaming and gaming, Blu-ray slot loading bay and massive 18.4 ince wide-screen. No this is performance at its peak.
What it doesnt have that the M17Xr.3 has? A 3D screen. For some reason my baby still holds the record for Alienware’s first 3D laptop! so NRR!
The keyboard is also big enough to allow for an extra side dock of icons that can be customized to be used for games, applications of whatever you want!! I found this pretty handy pulling up much-needed porn nice and easy. Like always, AlienFX is still intact, as with all their laptops. Be warned again, it is NOT made fr mobility. If you expect that then get the M17X instead. I would much prefer to gt a desktop instead, since this animal of a machine can cost well over $6000 american. I’m not sure what Alienware were going for when they designed this, is kind of makes the point of having a LAPtop redundant. Ah well!
Now again, this is a MINI desktop so don’t expect power from this as you would find in the Alienware Area 51. It’s still packs a smaller punch, utilizing the 3rd gen Intel Core i7 3770, overclocked to 3.4 Ghz, 16GB DDR3 ram and a 1.5 GDDR5 nVidia GeForce GTX 660 memory card. The system also has AlienAdrenaline onboard, allowing each of your games to run its own personalized profile, shutting down un necessary background tasks and programmes, allowing for maximum performance.
Now this is literally half the performance of the mighty M18X, o you can probably pick one up for just under $1200 american with everything in it, including Windows 8.
