OceanHorn – A Zelda game for iOS?

That’s right guys! OceanHorn will hopefully be released soon! And, said to be the most anticipated game ever released to the apple world, hype around is is high!
OceanHorn is being dubbed as the new Ocarina of Time for the iOS, which is a massive call in my book. For those of you who don’t know, I am a massive Zelda fan. No naturally I was immediately drawn to the Idea of this game. I then found out that it has been 3 years in the making, with posts on related threads going back all the way to 2008!

The game by Cornfox & Bros. features a male protagonist with a striking resemblance to Link. Based on the game play pics that have been released, the overall look and feel of the environments as well as you main character is very close to the look and feel as Zelda Skyward Sword on Nintendo Wii, which is not entirely a bad thing!
The game will also be featuring Music by Kingdom Hearts composers Nobuo Uematsu and amazing Kenji Ito, which to me is an absolute show stopper!
Ready for the downside? OceanHorn will not be made for Android! 😡 That’s right guys! Apparently 3 years of development is still not enough to type Android in their coding. I am pissed off to say the least! And I’m not the only one! People are already calling the whole thing a joke, and a hoax since it is taking so long.

Stay tuned for more updates!

K, first thing, it might be made for android in future, but note that android is note the prime choice for developers as there is more revenue to be made with ios. It is being deemed the new wind waker by fans and no one considers it a hoax as we do get infrequent updates due to a long development process and the fact they have lives outside making a game.

The Funny thing is, my friend, If you read more into threads floating around their updates, alot of people are losing faith in the game due to the time it has taken! We all understand that developers have their own lives (of cause) but at the end of the day, with this much hype around 1 game, there is also a level of urgency.
Also, while developers go get less revenue from Google play, Android App shoppers still continue to dominate HEAVILY over Apple. However, this game is being labeled as FREE, so revenue should not matter in this case!

Thing is, Android’s user base is populated with a LARGE group that doesn’t want to pay for games. Add to that fragmentation, piracy, and the fact that even iOS makes more ad revenue than Android, it’s an easy decision.

It is a good platform for many people – but for most developers (especially those making games with this depth, ie non-angry birds), it’s just not worth it …

      Totally understandable!
However, what you also need to remember, is that the Google platform is much easier to develop for, making it easier for amateur developers to release wave after wave of free crap onto the market, making the free to Paid ratio way off! In reality, android has a lot of paid apps, but it’s all just shrouded with free junk!

We don’t need a Zelda-like game on Android. We have Zelda. Kthanks.
